A quiet path through soft sand and dune grass

Many of the patterns you struggle with today began as intelligent ways of surviving.

To feel seen

You may look capable while carrying more than anyone knows.

You may have learned to stay quiet, anticipate other people’s needs, hide your emotions, or become the strong and responsible one in order to preserve connection.

Those responses protected you then. Now, they may leave you feeling anxious, ashamed, disconnected from yourself, or trapped in painful relationship patterns.

Here, you do not have to perform wellness or explain away your pain. We can slow down and understand the story beneath the pattern—including the parts of you that have been misunderstood, hidden, or carrying too much for too long.

The roles that helped you belong

Perhaps you became who everyone else needed.

The high-functionerThe caretakerThe achieverThe peacekeeperThe invisible oneThe strong one

These roles may have brought safety, approval, or a sense of belonging. Therapy can help you appreciate how they protected you while discovering who you are when you no longer have to live inside them.

Healing where the pattern began

Understanding the pattern is only the beginning.

Insight can help you understand why you react the way you do. But knowing why a pattern exists does not always change what happens inside you when a relationship feels uncertain, someone is disappointed, or your body senses danger.

Our work goes beyond talking about what happened. Together, we explore how the past continues to live in your emotions, beliefs, body, and relationships—and what becomes possible when you no longer need the same protection.

Your patterns are not evidence that something is wrong with you. They show how hard you worked to survive.

Listening to the body

Your body may notice something before words arrive.

We pay attention to moments of tension, constriction, urgency, numbness, or activation and become curious about what your nervous system may be communicating.

  • What is happening in the environment right now?
  • Is your body responding to the present—or remembering an earlier relational experience?
  • What does this response need in order to feel more grounded and protected?

By connecting thoughts, emotions, bodily responses, and relationship patterns, you can begin to respond to the present rather than automatically reacting from the past.

Inner-child work

Become the safe adult your younger self needed.

Healing is not about rejecting the person you became to survive. It is about understanding that person with compassion and offering your younger parts the safety, protection, and unconditional acceptance they may not have received.

The child within you is no longer alone. The adult you are today can learn to listen, protect, and stay.

About Gabriela

Warm and compassionate, but also honest.

I’m Silvia Gabriela León Piqueras, a bilingual psychotherapist and founder of Relational Healing Psychotherapy. I work with adults and couples carrying the effects of developmental and relational trauma.

Therapy with me is not a distant or clinical process. It is a real relationship where you can begin to understand yourself without judgment or shame. I listen closely, help you recognize patterns that may be difficult to see on your own, and gently name what is happening between your thoughts, emotions, body, and relationships.

My perspective is culturally responsive and conscious of colonization, migration, racism, gender expectations, and systems of power. We will not reduce your pain to an individual problem when family, culture, community, and the larger world have also shaped how you learned to survive.

We will move at a pace your nervous system can trust, without losing sight of the change you came for.

My approach

Relational, depth-oriented, and body-aware.

My work integrates psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems-informed parts work, attachment-based approaches, CBT for core beliefs, psychoeducation, and body awareness.
